Imagine Museum in St. Petersburg, the first regional museum to open up after the first few months of the pandemic, now offers free and private tours designed to educate visitors on glass art and ‘inspire and uplift’ them during these stressful times.

The museum’s mission is to elevate glass art and artists worldwide. It features a collection of more than 2,000 pieces, which rotate and include works by both American and international artists.

The free tours launch next week and will take place at 3 p.m. from Tuesday through Friday. “On Tuesday and Thursday, the tours will focus on American studio glass and Wednesdays and Fridays will focus on international studio glass,” said Karen Dietz, Imagine Museum’s Director of Visitor Services and Retail. “We have the most pre-eminent collection in the world, so you really get to see the masters.”

The tours help visitors to better understand the concept of the glass museum, according to Dietz. “When they take the tour and learn the history and stories and techniques, they have a much greater appreciation for the art.”

The museum also offers an optional private tour for groups of 10 or more for $13 per person from Tuesday through Friday with start times on the half hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Imagine Museum offers free self-guided tours on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, which include a scavenger hunt with little glass creatures hidden among the art installations. “The kids really like it and the adults really love it,” said Dietz.
