The Emergency Care Help Organization, or ECHO, is a nonprofit that offers services to those in need. They have begun to expand their Riverview location, and they’re seeking donations.

ECHO Riverview opened nearly three years ago and is now adding space so it can offer the same services there as it does in Brandon, including job interviewing workshops, tutoring and other resources, said Myriam Lugo, Center Director in Brandon. That is in addition to the emergency clothing, household goods and food it supplies to the needy in the community.

“We are very excited for this next step,” Lugo said. “The ribbon cutting will take place Thursday, June 17 at 4:30 p.m. at 7807 Capitano Street, Riverview.”

The reason for the expansion is quite simple, Lugo said, to provide more services to more people in southern Hillsborough County.

“We want our neighbors in Riverview to succeed and have access to our back to work [classes and other resources]. Our neighbors in Riverview should have the same opportunities as our neighbors in Brandon. This is all possible by the generosity of our community in Riverview and Brandon.”

ECHO is looking for donations of several large landscape rocks, as well as two- to four large drought-resistant plants, said Riverview Center Director Steve McKinnon. He said the Center already has a lead on a donation for mulch.

Additionally, its most urgent needed items include new men’s underwear, sizes medium and large, new ladies’ underwear, sizes 7, 8, 9 and 10, adult unisex socks in both medium and large and male and female deodorants.

To donate, contact opportunity@echofl.org or call (813) 685-0935, ext. 8007.
