A massive expansion at Clearwater Marine Aquarium has pushed attendance numbers up to their highest ever. Crowds are loving the added space and learning experiences.

“The reactions have been fantastic,” said Kelsy Long, Clearwater Marine Aquarium Director of Media Relations. “We have five times the guest space, so people are very happy to have more room to walk around and enjoy viewing the exhibits. Folks are also able to learn more about our dolphins.”

The new Winter’s Rescue Walk at the dolphin habitat, which tripled in size, includes nine viewing windows. “We have some sweeping underwater views that are amazing,” Long said. “It is so exciting to see the younger guests, especially, when they see the dolphins in the pools. It is a unique perspective.”

The expansion also includes a new visitors’ center with a new ticketing experience, in addition to a new café with a chef and full menu, including beer, wine and vegan fare. “We also opened a new retail center, as well,” Long said.

Also part of the expansion, there is a new banquet hall and theater, with new exhibits cycling in and out. Right now, the exhibit ‘Whales: Living with Giants’ is a big hit, said Long.

Tickets to the aquarium are $32.95 for children, $26.95 for kids and $30.95 for those over 60 years old. Kids under 2 are free.
