Beginning on March 14, street parking in Ybor City will no longer be free for up to two hours. The city is implementing a series of changes to parking infrastructure to make commutes easier for residents and tourists. These changes will allow access to greater parking, easier pay-to-park stations, and more.
The City of Tampa Parking Division crews will begin by adding 100 additional parking spaces in the Ybor Business District. They will also add pay station kiosks at each parking spot. These kiosks will make pay-to-park options easier and aid in the funding of this extensive public works project.
Currently, street parking is free up to two hours along 7th Avenue, 8th Avenue, and 9th Avenue in Ybor City. Beginning March 14th, the price to pay for street parking will increase to $1.50 per hour. Free two-hour parking will be moved to three parking lots (Ybor Lots 3, 5, & 6) in the Ybor business district. After two hours, parking in these lots will be $1.00 per hour.
Here is where the three free Ybor lots are located:
- Lot three: 1701 N. 19th Street
- Lot five: 1812 N. 19th Street
- Lot six: 1813 N. 19th Street

Drivers will pay for these spots at parking pay station kiosks or by using the Parkmobile app.
Fed Revolte, Parking Manager for the City of Tampa, believes that, “This is going to be instrumental in stopping the constant traffic congestion Ybor City drivers are facing as drivers scan the streets for free parking. We know this will make it easier to find a parking spot and also provide additional free parking in our city-owned parking lots.”
The City of Tampa is also designating additional pickup and drop-off spaces for ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft.
Drivers will input their license plate number into the pay station or use the mobile app. There are no paper tickets.
Customers displaying a disabled parking permit or wheelchair license plate may park for up to 4 hours – free of charge. Interaction with a pay station or mobile app is not required. Customers will need to purchase additional parking time if needed.
The parking changes and kiosks go live on Monday, March 14.
