The State of Florida is giving the City of Temple Terrace money to improve local roadways. Funds will go towards creating a Complete Streets and Safety Action Plan. The Temple Terrace roads improvements will center on safety for all users.
The City has decided to focus the funds on three corridors:
- Druid Hills Road from North 52nd Street to North Riverhills Drive
- North Riverhills Drive from Fowler Avenue to Druid Hills Road
- Whiteway Drive from North 52nd Street to North Riverhills Drive
The idea behind the Complete Streets plan is to make streets safer for all forms of transportation. This includes cars, bikes, pedestrians and public transit. The Complete Streets and Safety Action Plan will discuss adding the following elements to make the streets safer:
- Sidewalks
- Bike lanes
- Landscapes
- Curb extensions
- Bus lanes
- Median lanes
- Travel lanes
- Pedestrian signals
Complete Streets encourage walking, bicycling, and public transportation use by providing a comfortable, safe, and convenient environment for all road users, regardless of mode. A key component of Complete Streets principles is designing for multimodal uses of roadways that are not just for cars. The three corridors included in the Plan provide connections to several points of interests within the City, such as public spaces, schools, and recreational facilities. Implementing this plan will improve current conditions in these corridors.

The Plan will serve as a model for implementation of additional Complete Street corridors in the City of Temple Terrace.
Residents of Temple Terrace are encouraged to community workshop to discuss these roads and possible improvements. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, March 22, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Omar K. Lightfoot Center at 10901 N 56th Street.
