Hillsborough County is gearing up to support the local artists who brighten our community with their projects. Artists can apply now through August 19 for the Professional Development for Artists Grant from the county. This annual grant program funds emerging or established artists living in Hillsborough County for a specific purpose that is pivotal to the advancement of their career.
Professional Development for Artists Grant
Professional artists help support and develop a vibrant, creative community that inspires, energizes, and stimulates prosperity for residents and visitors alike. This grant allows The Hillsborough County Arts Council to support the important contributions of these creative individuals make towards the cultural vitality of Hillsborough County.
The annual program provides reimbursement grants of up to $2,000 to emerging or established artists in a variety of disciplines. The money can go towards things like funding attendance at a professional development experience (such as a residency, workshop) or the purchase of permanent, non-disposable equipment.
Artists must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Must be an active professional literary, performing, or visual artist
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must be a permanent resident of Hillsborough County since July 1, 2021, and remain so throughout the funding period
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Must not have received any type of artist grant from the Arts Council within the last three years (2020, 2021, 2022)
- Full-time, arts-related faculty in higher education are not eligible
- Applicants and recipients may not enroll in, or be currently enrolled in, any undergraduate or graduate degree program during the time their funded project is in progress.
If you receive a grant, the funded project must take place between Jan. 1, 2023, and Aug. 15, 2023. The Arts Council Advisory will review and score all eligible applications. Click here for full grant program details, application instructions, and deadlines.
