Survey Open for Shade Avenue “Complete Street” Project

Shade Avenue survey.

As part of Sarasota’s transportation improvement plan, they intend to build a “complete street” in the coming years, featuring amenities for all types of travel. A complete street is a street design that accommodates residents and neighborhoods for walking, biking, riding transit, or driving a vehicle. These streets are accessible, walkable, and built with the community in mind.

One of Sarasota’s first complete street improvements is proposed for Shade Avenue and will feature a variety of accommodations, public art, and landscaping changes to improve the area.

Shade Avenue is the number four priority in the citywide transportation master plan, Sarasota in Motion, and the planning phase is underway to construct a complete street from Hibiscus Street to 15th Street. Residents are encouraged to take the complete street online survey to provide feedback for the project and ensure residents’ needs are heard and met.

The survey takes about 5-10 minutes to complete and is available to take until 5 p.m. on Aug. 31.
