What is the University Area CDC
The University Area CDC has served the community for 23 years. It offers support for thousands of Tampa residents through youth programs, adult education and resource help. Its primary mission is the redevelopment and sustainability of the at-risk areas surrounding University of South Florida’s Tampa campus.
One of the UACDC’s greatest accomplishments is the University Area Community Center Complex. A 50,000 square foot, state-of-the-art multi-purpose center that is the focal point of the community. The center provides critical services to thousands of residents. It also includes classrooms, community room, performance stage, music and art and dance studios, fitness center, gymnasium and playground.
Funds provided through a diverse portfolio of grants and foundations, private contributions and public appropriations, and events like the Uptown Music Festival help residents take part in most programs for free.
