The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is will have an opening for their new space in Ybor City. On September 14, the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts will celebrate a new chapter and reopen their doors to the Tampa Bay community. The museum’s new space in Ybor City is now ready to welcome guests from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Now FMoPA will sit next to other vibrant art communities in the historic Kress Building. This move has placed FMoPA at the heart of this artistic hub. This new space will foster collaborations with neighboring art communities, galleries, and cultural organizations.
Situated on 7th Avenue, the Kress Building was originally part of the S. H. Kress and Co. “five and dime” department store chain. The three-story brick building, built in 1929, is now on the National Register of Historic Places, which seems appropriate since Ybor City is one of only three National Historic Landmark Districts in the State of Florida.
Now the three floors are dedicated to being an arts hub. This includes thing like galleries, artist studios, a micro-cinema and now the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts.

The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is a museum dedicated to exhibiting important photographic art. FMoPA collects, preserves, and exhibits historic and contemporary works by nationally and internationally known photographic artists. FMoPA also enriches the community by operating outreach programs to educate children and adults.
