St. Pete PAL Artwork To Be Displayed in Downtown St. Pete

A local real estate developer will display three winning drawings from children of St. Pete PAL at a spot in downtown St. Petersburg. The drawings will be interpretations of the Residences at 400 Central, a luxury condominium being built in the area. John Catsimatidis Sr., principal of the company that is sponsoring development of the 46-story Residences at 400 Central tower, is the main sponsor of the contest and a lifelong supporter of arts in the Tampa Bay area.

Supporting the kids of St. Pete PAL

St. Pete PAL (Police Athletic League) is a nonprofit organization aimed at providing positive interactions between law enforcement officers and the youth in the community through various recreational and educational activities. St. Pete PAL provides a safe, affordable place for children to go when they are not in school where caring adults offer thoughtfully designed activities to help them succeed academically, make healthy lifestyle choices and grow to be productive adults.

John Catsimatidis Sr., along with and his wife Margo Catsimatidis, are longtime supporters of the organization. They help out and support whenever they can.

“Margo and I donated toys for the children of St. Pete PAL in December and our travel plans to personally deliver the toys were interrupted by the December storm. Knowing we were returning in January for the annual St. Petersburg Winter Ball to celebrate the Orthodox New Year, we worked with St. Pete PAL for another opportunity to engage with their children and let them draw their interpretations of our building,” Mr. Catsimatidis said. “I have been involved with PAL for over 40 years. I am thrilled to learn more about St. Pete PAL’s efforts and see the childrens’ drawings.”

The competition will be judged by the Catsimatidis family, Bernardo Fort-Brescia (the award-winning architect of 400 Central and founder of international architecture firm Arquitectonica) and a panel of St. Petersburg police officers. The drawings will then be displayed at The Residences at 400 Central Sales Gallery in downtown St. Petersburg.

In addition to the drawing competition, Mr. Catsimatidis will bring gifts for all children and Nintendo Switches for the winning artists.
