Hillsborough County will have an agricultural tour that helps Hillsborough veterans this March. The Military Agricultural Tour is geared towards military veterans, reservists, transitioning active-duty personnel, and their spouses who have an interest in working in the agricultural industry. The free bus tour of local agriculture businesses will start at 8 a.m. on Friday, March 24.
The tour will introduce career paths and job opportunities within modern agriculture operations and supporting industries. Participants will visit a variety of farming operations and the University of Florida Gulf Coast Research and Education Center in southern Hillsborough County.

Today’s agriculture industries increasingly focus on using technology and management systems for the production of food, medicine, consumer products, and energy. During the tour, participants will see career paths and job opportunities within modern agriculture operations and supporting industries. Registered attendees will visit a variety of farming operations including:
- A tropical fish farm
- A veteran-owned strawberry farm plant nursery
- A blueberry farm
- The University of Florida Gulf Coast Research and Education Center in southern Hillsborough County.
Hillsborough County Extension Service and community partners have organized the tour. Their goal is to assist transitioning veterans by providing meaningful connections to quality civilian career opportunities and training.
Participants must pre-register at the event page by March 22. There is a $5 cost and participants will receive lunch. The tour will start and end at UF/IFAS Extension Hillsborough County, 5339 CR 579, Seffner, FL 33584.
Participants should wear appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes.
