Amazon.com Inc. plans on opening the doors to a new state-of-the-art fulfillment center in Temple Terrace in 2021 and constructing a new delivery station in Lutz.
The new center, which is expected to create 750 new jobs, will become the eighth fulfillment and sorting center in Florida, including a massive complex in Ruskin and another in Lakeland. It will be located on Harney Road.
Amazon corporate spokesman Owen Torres said dates have not yet been announced for when the hiring process will begin, but it typically starts a few months in advance of an opening.
“We’re excited to be growing our operations in Florida and we are excited to open a new fulfillment center in Temple Terrace,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon’s vice president of global customer fulfillment. “Amazon is committed to providing great jobs with industry leading pay and benefits, starting on day one, in a safe, innovative work environment.”
She added the company is grateful for the support it has received from both local and state leaders.
Temple Terrace Acting Mayor Andrew Ross said in the company’s press release on the project that the city is excited to be getting a new corporate citizen. “Amazon’s presence in our amazing city will bring more jobs and opportunities for residents and those throughout the region.”
The new fulfillment center will be 600,000 square feet.
