Celebrate Archives Awareness Week with Hillsborough County Libraries

Archives Awareness Week was created in 1992 by the City of Tampa Archives Advisory Committee. During this time, local archives come together to present their collections through exhibits and programs. They work to show the value of archives in the preservation and continuation of the city’s history.

You can take a glimpse into the past with your local library during Archives Awareness Week from July 10 to16. During this time, Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library is celebrating local archives and the importance of preserving the region’s history.

The library has events and a photo challenge planned throughout the week to provide an inside look at the library’s immense archival collection.

Featured events include:

An Overview to Historic Sanborn Maps

Burgert Re-Enactment Photo Challenge

Throughout the week, the library will also host the Archives Awareness Week Burgert Re-Enactment Photo Challenge. To participate, choose a Burgert Brothers photograph you would like to reenact, find the location and snap a present-day photo! Then, visit @TampaHillsLib on Instagram and send in your photos using the hashtag #LikeABurgert.
