What is Speakers Who Inspire?
The Speakers Who Inspire series invites some of the leading minds in a variety of fields to speak at the Foundation’s Center for Health Equity in St. Pete. Previous speakers include:
- Dr. Jennifer Mullan — A clinical psychologist, professor, healer-spiritualist, and scholar-activist helping catalyze the movement to co-create a new liberatory model of mental health.
- Heather McGhee — An influential thinker exploring inequality today and author of the book The Sum of Us.
The event is not a formal event. Sign up is free and people are encouraged to come as they are. Attendees are allowed to ask questions about improving economic opportunity in St. Petersburg. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the actual event starting at 6 p.m.
Who is Khalil Gibran Muhammad?
Khalil Gibran Muhammad is widely known as one of the most influential authorities on racial justice in America. Dr. Muhammad is an American historian, professor, and public intellectual. He is the author of the book The Condemnation of Blackness: Race, Crime, and the Making of Modern Urban America which explores the historical roots of racial disparities in the criminal justice system. Khalil Gibran Muhammad has also been involved in various initiatives and discussions related to racial justice, social policy, and public history.
