The City of St. Petersburg’s Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating the senior community by dedicating a week to bring awareness and opportunities for older adults in St. Pete. Seniors Week will take place on Sunday, August 21–Thursday, August 25 at various spots in the city.

The department is excited to celebrate the inaugural Seniors Week and shine a light on activities, resources geared to older adults, and raise awareness of the various programs and services available in the St. Pete community.

Schedule of events

  • Senior Fit Fair: Sunday, August 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Azalea Recreation Center, 1600 72nd N. This free intergenerational event brings family and friends together for a day of wellness and energizing activities. Learn about wellness resources, services and programs, while enjoying fitness demonstrations, games and giveaways.
  • Taste of the Gardens: Monday, August 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Enoch Davis Recreation Center, 1111 18th S. The center is bringing local gardens to your table. Learn about the process of garden to table through a cooking demonstration. Also, enjoy a peek at the center’s garden and the neighboring Youth Farm.
  • Senior Games Showdown: Wednesday, August 24, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Bay Vista Recreation Center, 7000 4th S. Get ready for some friendly, fun competition. Bring your friends and enjoy board games, outdoor activities, goodies and more. All while learning about resources and programs offered to the senior community.
  • Senior Gala: Thursday, August 25, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, 559 Mirror Lake Dr. N. Right next door to the Sunshine Senior Center. Spend a night out with your partner and friends at the Sunshine Senior Center’s semiformal gala. Enjoy music, hors d’oeuvres, signature mocktails and more. All while exploring the senior programs and resource opportunities offered by the Sunshine Senior Center.
