The Florida Chamber of Commerce kicks off its Prosperity and Economic Opportunity Summit in Sarasota at 8 a.m. May 26 at the Westin Sarasota, with virtual tickets available for the event.
The fee for virtual attendance (live-streaming) is $199.
The agenda includes sessions on ‘The Fight for Equality of Opportunity’, ‘The 10 Root Causes of Poverty and the Promising Practices’, ‘Financial Literacy and the Path to Prosperity’ and much more.
During the summit, Florida’s business leaders, elected leaders and community officials will convene “to combat generational poverty and share promising practices that can create prosperity for all, regardless of the ZIP code one lives in,” said Florida Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Mark Wilson.
“There are 829,342 children living in poverty in Florida’s 983 ZIP codes,” Wilson said. “The Florida Chamber Foundation’s Florida Prosperity Project has created the Florida Model—identifying the 10 root causes of poverty and their unique impact on each one of Florida’s ZIP Codes.
The summit will consider each zip code and the needs in those areas and will discuss best practices around the state and how to replicate those that have been successful.
The summit also includes a look at the 10 topic areas the Florida Chamber Foundation’s research shows are the root causes of generational poverty: jobs, education, housing, health, food, safety, child care, justice, transportation and agency-community voice.
The topic for the wrap up and call-to-action is ‘Leadership in Every Neighborhood and Every ZIP Code’.
Online registration is still open for virtual seats.
