Grey Bull Rescue Team Heads to Normandy to Commemorate the Heroes of WWII

A Tampa based organization is heading to Normandy, France to honor, commemorate, and learn from the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. Here U.S. combat veteran Bryan Stern will introduce his new venture — Grey Bull Rescue — an organization dedicating the most vulnerable populations in need of rescue from global war-zones. Stern has helped evacuate over 7,000 people from war torn countries and natural disasters since 2021.

“We are humbled to jump where they jumped, land where they landed, and walk where they walked.”

Bryan Stern

Stern is a multiple-tour combat veteran of the United States Army and Navy who has supported, deployed and operated rescue operations in over 70 countries including Ukraine, Russia, Afghanistan, Sudan, Israel, Gaza, and Haiti. He is a as former CEO of Project DYNAMO, a veteran-led international rescue non-profit organization that specializes in rescuing people from “The Grey Spaces” where the United States lacks access and a presence.

Stern is credited with the rescue of the first American victim of war crimes held by Russia, in addition to over 600 unclassified missions and thousands of highly classified missions.

Grey Bull Rescue in Normandy

In Normandy, Stern will be joined by members of his evacuation team, Grey Bull Rescue, which is comprised of Army Special Operations Veterans and Navy SEALs. They will commemorate the milestone anniversary which has inspired present-day rescue operations all over the world.

“The tactics that we employ in our missions and evacuations in denied areas today are derived directly from the OSS heroes of World War II whose bravery and methods set the conditions back on June 6, 1944 ahead of Operation: OVERLORD,” said Bryan Stern. “It’s only fitting that as our rescue teams of Grey Bull Rescue get ready to launch into our next phase of operations that we first recognize the bravery of our service members 80 years ago in the very skies and on the beaches where history was made. These brave Americans, part of the famed Jedburg teams were operating under cover, behind enemy lines in advance of the largest airborne and amphibious operation in history.”

Stern and members of his rescue team will conduct multiple parachute jumps from aircraft that were used on D-Day. They will travel along the same path that paratroopers used in World War II. After this milestone anniversary Grey Bull Rescue will continue their rescue operations in 2024. These missions will be inn some of the most dangerous corners of the world where Americans are in trouble.

“The world has more strife globally than we have seen in 80 years,” adds Stern. “As we commemorate this anniversary, we do so with our sights set on the need for future evacuation operations and rescue missions, which are actively being planned. The world, and American citizens in dire situations, need our support now more than ever. There are more Americans in captivity today than in the last 40 years.”
