Kevin King Joins Red Apple Team

Kevin King, Director of Business Development for Red Apple Real Estate in Florida.

Red Apple has hired Kevin King as their Director of Business in Florida for the real estate arm of their company — Red Apple Real Estate (RARE). RARE develops mixed-use properties that combine luxury living options with neighborhood retail space. King has over 20 years of public sector experience, specifically in St. Petersburg. That experience will come in handy as Kevin King and Red Apple develop Residence 400 Central in Downtown St. Pete.

King served as the Chief of Staff and Chief of Policy and Public Engagement under Rick Kriseman from 2014 to 2022. Prior to joining the city, King consulted for two statewide non-profits and spent six years as a senior legislative assistant in the Florida House of Representatives. King played a major role in St. Pete’s recent renaissance, working alongside economic development officials on every major initiative in the last eight years. King attended school at USF and currently lives in St. Pete with his son.

The company King is joining Red Apple, is a diversified, family-owned group of companies led by John Catsimatidis. Red Apple Real Estate has completed several residential development projects. Red Apple also has a substantial energy portfolio with major projects in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. Now the Manhattan-based company is focusing on Florida.

“I have pledged to spend my next billion dollars in Florida, not New York, and that requires us to grow our team and be an active presence in the area,” said Catsimatidis Sr. “I am pleased to bring Kevin on board to continue our momentum.”

400 Central

The Residence at 400 Central plans to be the tallest residential building on the West Coast of Florida. The mixed-use project will span an entire city block in the heart of St. Petersburg. It will include 301 luxury homes, retail, restaurant, café and office spaces. Initial condominium sales have already exceeded $150 million in the first 90 days of sales.

“Mr. Catsimatidis and the Red Apple Group are New York City icons,” said Kevin King. “And as someone with New York roots, it is a thrill to be part of this organization as it expands into the Florida market. The Residences at 400 Central is a prime example of the dedication and quality that goes into each of their projects.”
