The St. Petersburg Anchor Institutions Initiative will host their #GetHiredStPete Career Fair on Thursday, June 15 at Pinellas Technical College.
Anchor members include:
- Bayfront Health
- Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital
- St. Anthony’s Hospital
- HCA Florida Northside Hospital
- The City of St. Petersburg
These companies will be hiring on site for over 100 entry level to management jobs in nursing support, housekeeping, administration, security, food services, customer service, facilities maintenance, and more.
“Our Anchors Initiative is focused on economic growth and opportunity for the community. Being able to hire people for jobs with growth potential is a tremendous resource that we’re excited to help support,” said Dr. Bilan Joseph. He oversees the Anchors collaboration as Strategic Initiatives Manager for the Foundation.
#GetHiredStPete Career Fair
The #GetHiredStPete Career Fair goes beyond a typical career fair. It will offer free resume assistance and printing from 1:30 p..m to 2 p.m. There will also be free on-site childcare available throughout the fair itself, removing barriers that may exist for job seekers. The goal of the event is to help connect community residents, particularly those in the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area, with local economic opportunities and jobs.
The June 15 career fair represents the third collaborative event hosted by the Anchors Initiative since the group announced their partnership a little more than a year ago. The thinking about the group is simple. As major city employers, the institutions have the power to shift outcomes when they work together.

The June 15 career fair is part of the group’s plan to collaborate on local hiring, procurement, and data-sharing with a goal of improving economic opportunities and health outcomes in South St. Petersburg, where the hospitals are located.
What is the Anchor Institutes Initiatives?
A year ago, four major city institutions announced a partnership to improve equity and health in South St. Petersburg. These leaders – St. Anthony’s Hospital, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, and the City of St. Petersburg – represent the inaugural members of the St. Petersburg Anchor Institutions Initiative, which is convened and fueled by the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg.
“The primary goal of the Anchor Institutions Initiative is economic growth and opportunity for local residents and business owners. Ideally, this is an opportunity to put significant investment into the local community, which has experienced a lot of disinvestment and inequity,” said Dr. Joseph. “These local Anchors have the power to help change that. And the idea that they’re willing to do that is extremely powerful.”
The group hosted a job fair in the fall of 2022 and a virtual vendor opportunity fair last month.
