What used to take days to build scaffolding and inspect construction sites on high now takes about an hour, thanks to a high-tech flying machine that virtually climbs the ladder for a bird’s eye view of spaces not easily accessed.
Jonathan Moore, President of Tampa’s InVision Advisors and licensed commercial drone pilot, uses the technology to scale rooftops and inspect hard-to-reach locations.
“I even used it inside the Tampa Theater to inspect their paint work as we look forward to restoring the auditorium sometime in the next couple of years,” Moore said.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic required social distancing on job sites, he has seen his business grow exponentially.
“Also, it keeps this 48-year-old man off roofs and ladders and allows me to get to places my eyes could not otherwise see,” said Moore.
With drone technology improving by the month, more and more construction companies and project managers are using it for similar functions.
“We can get close up and the drone technology gives us the ability to take super high-resolution photos,” Moore said. “For me to be able to fly and inspect at the same time eliminates the middleman most would hire to fly and then evaluate a site.”
InVision Advisors is a project management company which also helps companies with design, construction and project budgeting.
