A documentary about a couple who transformed their lives through faith, then opened a successful plant-based café in Lutz premieres July 29 at Grace Family Church.
The Revelations Café, opened three years ago and has been a roaring success, focusing on a healthy plant-based diet designed to help those who want to heal through food instead of medication, said Robby Graham, who opened the café with his wife, Mia Revello-Graham. She had a vision about opening the café and Graham, a self-proclaimed carnivore, finally bought into the vision after suffering what he describes as a widow-maker heart attack while working out at the gym.
Once he started his plant-based diet, he said, he dropped 30 pounds and 100 points on his cholesterol level.
“I’m looking at it purely from the point of God gave us a body and we should honor that temple,” Graham said. The café, which seats 60, fills up with people seeking its unique atmosphere, he said. There is a prayer closet and a prayer wall, “but it’s not in your face,” he said. “People just come in and get a good sense.”
Documentary producer John Corry, an old high school friend of Graham’s, produced the film which he plans to market on a national scale. Corry is also the producer of the documentary Faith, Family and Football about famed Florida State University Coach Bobby Bowden.
For now, the best way to view Revelation Café: Food for the Soul is by heading to Grace Family Church, 5101 Van Dyke Road, Lutz at 6:30 p.m. July 29. Free tickets are available online.
