New Leadership Announced at Heidt Design

Heidt Design, the 78-year-old engineering firm, is announcing five new principals at their company — Alan J. Carson, P.E., Strickland T. Smith, P.E., Frank T. Gizzo, Christine D. Barreiro AICP, and Michael A. Caron, CPA.

Heidt Design is based in Tampa, Orlando, and Panama City. In the Tampa area, they have provided engineering services for significant developments. For instance, Waterset, Epperson, Starkey Ranch, Lakewood Ranch and Latitude Margaritaville Watersound, among many others. Former Heidt Design president, Patrick Gassaway, plans on supporting these new principals. He views the new leadership as a positive and exciting development.

Gassaway explains his pride in the new leadership team, “It signifies the accomplishment of our goals set over a decade ago, to grow from within to make sure the culture of our firm is preserved.”

Previous leadership team members will continue their employment and support ongoing projects. This includes Timothy Plate, P.E. and Michael Tucker, P.E.

Since its founding in 1943, Heidt Design has helped create some of the defining communities in the Tampa Bay area. Developments such as Bloomingdale, Avila, Tampa Palms, Hunters Green, Westchase, Harbour Island, Meadow Pointe, Cheval, West Meadows, the Westshore Mall, Amalie Arena, and FishHawk Ranch.

Engineering is a complex business, however, Heidt Design keeps a simple, client-focused business model. As Gassaway explains, “It’s based on the idea that if you focus on your client’s success, you will never have to worry about your own.”
