Assure Infusions, a Winter Haven-based pharmaceutical company, is constructing and opening a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing site in Polk County this year. The facility will bring over 100 jobs to the area in 2023.

Assure, which launched early this year, produces IV fluid products including sodium chloride, dextrose, lactated ringers, and sterile water. Their manufacturing facility in Polk County will feature high-tech robotics and other state-of-the-art medical technologies critical to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

Alex Lucio, CEO of Assure, said to Businesswire:

We’re excited to share our plans to build a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Central Florida. Having readily available IV fluids is critical for quality healthcare, but unfortunately, there is often a shortage of these products in the U.S. due to a lack of domestic manufacturing, supply chain issues and production limitations of current manufacturers.”

The facility will be built in Bartow and is scheduled to open as soon as 2023. The site will add over 100 high-paying jobs to the Central Florida area, in a field that is increasingly necessary as COVID-19 cases and complications are still causing congestion in hospitals and medical facilities nationwide.

Alex Lucio, Assure’s CEO, says the company is investing $20 million in the facility. In an email to Business Observer, he noted

“To the best of our knowledge, we will be the only IV pharmaceutical manufacturer sterilizing onsite, which will allow us to meet demand faster. IV fluids are routinely on backorder as demand stays high and supply is limited.”

In the email, Lucio also mentioned several local and state incentives to help facilitate construction and growth of the company. According to the email, the Central Florida Development Council and the city of Bartow have committed to providing sales tax abatement for a period and concessions on utilities, impact fees, and other state expenses. The City has also aided in securing land and permitting to help Assured launch as quickly as possible.

“This was more valuable to us than economic incentives because time delays always have an economic component to them.”
