With the expansion of the city’s Pride celebration from one weekend to a month-long stretch, St. Pete Pride will include a We Are Family event at the St. Pete Pier, North Straub Park and South Straub Park June 12.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $5, with ticket sales going to local community organizations.
“This is actually the first of its kind,” said St. Pete Pride spokesperson Tamara Leigh. “Pride is generally a weekend, so this is an entirely new concept to be able to spread Pride across multiple venues and highlight different themes each week, with flagship events on weekends.”
The idea for We Are Family is to show the community the diversity in the LGBTQ community. “We have rainbow families, whether it is LGBTQ kids or parents with LGBTQ kids, we wanted to create a fun, safe and entertaining environment the entire family could enjoy,” Leigh said.
There will be family-focused vendors, entertainment and activities along the St. Pete waterfront. Food and beverages will be available for sale.
On the pier, there is a playground, splash park, dining options and more.
An Arts and Music Week kicks off Saturday, June 19 at The Factory, 2622 Fairfield Ave., S. Stroll the grounds of the new eight-acre mixed-use space in the Warehouse Arts District, while soaking in music, art and dance. In honor of Juneteenth, this event also features a celebration of Black, Queer culture.
