PSTA Announces SunRunner Grand Opening Date

PSTA is excited to announce the launch of the SunRunner Grand Opening. The rapid transport system is planned to begin on Oct. 21, 2022. This new public transport system is aimed not only to facilitate traffic in the Tampa Bay region, but to offer a cleaner, more efficient public transport option for those living in and visiting the area. 

Brad Miller, Chief Executive Officer of PSTA, said he was, “excited to officially announce the grand opening of the SunRunner, a project that will truly transform the Tampa Bay region. As our area’s first rapid transit system, the SunRunner will introduce enhanced customer service and connectivity, and encourage new economic growth for the region.”

The SunRunner features semi-dedicated lanes, limited stops and safety enhancements for riders, including level boarding platforms and crosswalks. The 10.3-mile line will connect St. Pete Beach, one of the best beaches in the U.S., with downtown St. Pete. It will include 30 stations with buses running every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes in the evening.

As The Tampa/St. Pete area continues to grow, more project like this are in the works with the City. This is to ensure that visitors and locals alike can enjoy fast, affordable public transport to their favorite destinations.
