Speer Dream Foundation Funds Local Nonprofits Supporting Hurricane Relief Efforts

The Speer Dream Foundation is announcing grant funding to nine nonprofit organizations that are providing essential support to local residents affected by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. These grants will aid in delivering direct relief to individuals and families grappling with the devastating impacts of the storms. 

The awarded organizations have been selected for their outstanding commitment to community resilience. As well as their ability to rapidly mobilize relief efforts in the wake of these natural disasters.

The grant recipients

  • Julie Weintraub’s Hands Across the Bay Inc.: Offering immediate assistance to families impacted by the hurricanes, including emergency financial support and essential resources.
  • The Kind Mouse: Providing nutritional support to families in need. Focusing on the immediate distribution of food and supplies to hurricane survivors.
  • Whatever It Takes Foundation: Mobilizing efforts to meet critical needs for those affected. Everything from shelter and housing assistance to disaster recovery resources.
  • Reach St. Pete: Delivering rapid-response aid to the homeless and low-income families affected by the storms, providing essentials like food, hygiene products, and temporary shelter.
  • Heroes of St. Pete Police & Fire Rescue: Supporting first responders and their families as they manage recovery efforts while attending to their own hurricane-related needs.
  • YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg: Facilitating aid to YMCA staff and their families impacted by the hurricanes.  
  • Coast Guard Foundation: Offering immediate assistance to Coast Guard members and their families as they lead relief and rescue operations during post-hurricane recovery.
  • St. Pete Fools Charities: Raising funds and coordinating local resources for direct aid to individuals facing hardship in the aftermath of the hurricanes.
  • Countryside Cares Inc.: Providing emergency relief packages, including food, water, and hygiene kits to families in the most affected areas.

The Speer Dream Foundation’s funding will enable these nonprofits to continue their critical work. This work will make a direct difference in the lives of those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

“Community members impacted by the storms are encouraged to seek assistance through these organizations. They are providing a wide range of support services,” said Tim Whipple. He’s executive Director, Speer Dream Foundation.  “Additionally, those who wish to contribute to the recovery efforts can help amplify these organizations’ reach by making donations directly. Each donation will go toward expanding these nonprofits’ capacities to deliver immediate and long-term aid to those most in need.”
