Speer Dream Foundation is supporting the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Foundation and their innovative Reunification Taskforce. The Speer Dream Foundation is a faith-based philanthropic organization committed to making a meaningful impact in the Tampa Bay region. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Foundation was selected as one of over twenty local nonprofits to be included in a $2.3 million grant disbursement.
The grant funds support a pioneering multi-jurisdictional taskforce that is the first of its kind, dedicated to addressing the often-overlooked need for reuniting family members with their loved ones during mass casualty events. Taking lessons learned from other communities, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office identified the need for a reunification model that can be replicated by other agencies across the country.
“We are honored to support the efforts of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Foundation,” shared Lisa Vickers, CEO/Executive Trustee for Speer Dream Foundation. “The planning and work being done by the Reunification Taskforce is something we hope is never needed but recognize is essential for law enforcement and all families impacted by a mass casualty event.”
On July 8, The Speer Dream Foundation presented a check for $150,000 to Pinellas County Sheriff Gualtieri.
“This is an insurance policy you hope you never have to use but necessary to have ready,” said Bob Gualtieri, Pinellas County Sheriff. “While the main focus of a mass casualty event is the event itself, family reunification plans are a needed component. Receiving this support from the Speer Dream Foundation will go a long way to meeting the needs of the Reunification Taskforce.”
Providing support to nonprofit organizations in the Tampa Bay region semiannually, Speer Dream Foundation seeks to address critical community needs while empowering and enabling individuals. The Foundation’s four focus areas are education, military and first responder assistance, medical support and community outreach.
