Stellar in Jacksonville Celebrates 40 Years of Innovation and Community Impact

One of Jacksonville’s homegrown success stories is hitting a major milestone—Stellar, a leading design-build firm, is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2025.

What began in July 1985 with fewer than 30 employees and a focus on refrigeration for the food industry has grown into a nationally recognized company with over 750 team members and projects across the U.S. (and even internationally). Stellar’s first big break came right here at home with the renovation of Epping Forest’s Yacht and Country Club—an early project that helped launch the company’s long-standing reputation for quality and innovation.

An impressive resume

Since then, Stellar in Jacksonville has been behind some seriously impressive builds. From the world’s largest pork-processing plant for Carolina Food Processors in the ’90s to award-winning facilities for brands like Starbucks, Keystone Foods, and Bell & Evans, the firm has earned its place among industry leaders. Its work has been honored by top trade publications and national organizations, including five consecutive National Safety Pinnacle Awards from Associated Builders and Contractors.

But Stellar’s impact goes beyond buildings. The company takes pride in its workplace culture, offering career development, wellness perks, and a strong emphasis on safety. “After 40 remarkable years, we stand proud of our achievements and the incredible journey we’ve taken together as a team,” said CEO Brian Kappele. “This milestone is a celebration of our past and a promise for the future.”

A part of the community

Here in Jacksonville, Stellar is known just as much for its community spirit as it is for its construction projects. From supporting local staples like the Jacksonville Zoo and Museum of Science & History to organizing Thanksgiving food drives and partnering with organizations like UF Health and Dreams Come True, Stellar’s team is committed to giving back.

Sustainability is another key pillar for the company. Stellar’s Commercial Division HQ even earned LEED Silver Certification thanks to its use of eco-friendly materials and green technologies.

As it heads into the next 40 years, Stellar remains focused on innovation, community, and building strong relationships—with clients, employees, and the Jacksonville area it still proudly calls home.
