Over two dozen Tampa area businesses had such phenomenal growth recently that their names made Inc. Magazine’s 5000 list, released earlier this month.
Among those with the highest growth is Gale Healthcare Solutions. It’s an app launched in 2016 to overcome the challenges of the nationwide nursing shortage. Since its launch in Tampa, Gale has expanded operations from Florida to 39 states. This despite the effects of COVID-19 and historic labor shortages.
Gale Healthcare Solutions
The company secured $60 million in funding from FTV Capital to help it continue its expansion in the $24.7 billion healthcare temporary staffing market.
According to the Inc. list, Gale grew 687% over the past three years. It is a technology-enabled system for healthcare services and payments providing per diem, contract, and temporary staffing services. It also provides software licensing services for post-acute and acute healthcare settings.
Gale offers a clinical workforce of over 50,000 clinicians and service clients who sign up to work through the app.

“Our ranking as one of the fastest-growing companies in America is great news for the Gale team and for anyone who has a loved one in a nursing home or senior care facility,” said Tony Braswell, President, and Founder of Gale Healthcare Solutions. “We launched Gale to help solve the national nursing shortage. Through technology and people, we’re on a mission to ensure no one goes without care.”
Less than one percent of U.S. businesses make the Inc. 5000 list. Gale, ranking at 931, was the first healthcare services firm in the country to introduce an “on-demand” tech-based staffing solution. Using the Gale app, healthcare facilities post open shifts, and clinicians can accept those work options immediately. Gale is also the industry leader in another vital innovation—providing clinicians with same-day pay. According to the company, the combination of leading staffing and payments technology and a people-focused approach has propelled Gale’s rapid growth.
The Inc. 5000 List
Inc. 5000 ranks the companies on the list based on their percentage of revenue growth between 2018 and 2021. To qualify for the list, companies must be founded and started generating revenue by March 31, 2018. They must also be based in the United States, privately held and for-profit. Minimum revenue of $100,000 was required in 2018. The minimum this year is $2 million.
The top 500 companies on the Inc. 5000 are featured in Inc. magazine’s September issue. You can find the entire Inc. 5000 here.
“The accomplishment of building one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., in light of recent economic roadblocks, cannot be overstated,” says Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “Inc. is thrilled to honor the companies that have established themselves through innovation, hard work, and rising to the challenges of today.”
