A Tampa company that produces easily sanitized television remote controls has teamed up with Samsung to provide their remotes free with every TV sold to a healthcare facility.
Clean Remote LLC, in business since 2001, designs its remotes to be a “safer solution” that can be quickly, effectively and easily sanitized between uses.
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is providing one free remote with each television it sells to a hospital, assisted living, rehabilitation center, clinic or other healthcare facility.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, healthcare systems are focusing more on reducing viruses found in high-touch areas and this is one way to accomplish it, according to Ken Honeycutt, Senior Business Manager for Healthcare Technology, Samsung. “Offering the easy-to-sanitize Clean Remotes, bundled with our Samsung healthcare and hospitality TVs for our partners is another step we are taking to prioritize the well-being of patients and essential health workers,” said Honeycutt.
Rick Muinos, National Accounts Manager for Clean Remote, said the partnership is a culmination of work it has done with Samsung through the years. “We have worked together on several projects through the years each time they develop a new television or system. This opportunity came along, and the idea just really made sense because the collaboration was so timely,” Muinos noted, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Clean Remotes are already widely used in numerous healthcare and hospitality facilities, hotels, and cruise lines. Unlike a standard remote, which has raised buttons and crevices not easily sanitized, Clean Remotes have a smooth, non-porous membrane that makes them easy to clean. The remotes can be cleaned using everyday products.
“For us, this is a huge opportunity,” Muinos said, and one he hopes will help the company continue to grow. “We have been growing since the pandemic brought a lot of attention to cleanable products. Our product was originally developed after the SARS outbreak.”
