The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg Appoints Two Interim Co-CEOs

The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg has appointed Carol Martin Brown and Carl Lavender as Interim Co-CEO’s during the search for a new president and CEO. The two Co-CEO’s will serve the Foundation’s mission while working with the CEO team to search for a new president and CEO.

Martin Brown currently serves as the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer for the Foundation. She has experience in both the financial and social sectors. She earned her MBA from Columbia Business School and serves as a CPA with Big Four experience. Martin Brown uses her business acumen and passion for her community to promote the Foundation’s mission of racial and health equity for Pinellas County.

Lavender is currently the Chief Equity Officer for the Foundation. This means he serves as a resource and sounding board for staff and community partners seeking the most effective and impactful ways to build a race equity movement in the region. Lavender has made a notable career leading nonprofit organizations in Pinellas County for the past 20 years. He has also served in high-level community advancement and fundraising positions in Chicago and Cleveland nonprofits in the past.

What is The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg

The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg is a private foundation that was formed in 2013. This was following the sale of the nonprofit Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. It is the steward of $170 million in assets to support health equity in Pinellas County. The Foundation is passionate about achieving health equity through race. In 2019, it opened the Center for Health Equity. This is a place where people come together to find the resources and partners to advance race equity and achieve health equity.
