‘Urban Oasis’ Resort Coming to the Tampa Riverwalk

A California-based hotel group announced plans Wednesday to construct a luxury hotel and condominiums on Tampa’s Riverwalk, yet another link in the neighborhood’s cultural and entertainment attractions along that path.

Pendry Hotels & Resorts is partnering with Two Roads Development for Pendry Hotel, which will include 220 guest rooms and 207 residences.

Pendry expects to open the luxury resort in 2024 at 100 Ashley Drive South, bordered by Whiting Street, Ashley Drive, Brorein Street and the Hillsborough River.

The vibe for this new downtown amenity will be “modern coastal California meets Florida,” featuring floor-to-ceiling windows with expansive views of the river. The interior will feature light wood tones, lush greenery and “subtle accents of Gulf Coast style throughout,” according to a press release.

The luxury hotel will feature a full-service restaurant, a lobby bar and a lounge. Resort-style amenities also include a rooftop pool and lounge.

Pendry’s signature Pinwheel Kids’ Club and Spa Pendry, which features eight treatment rooms, and a state-of-the-art fitness center are also in the plans.

The hotel will feature 11,000 square feet of meeting space, a destination for groups, locals and leisure visitors.

Pendry did not release the overall cost of the project.

“Pendry has long aspired to have a presence in Florida as a coveted destination among our guests and residential owners,” said Alan J. Fuerstman, founder, chairperson and CEO of Montage International. “We look forward to introducing Pendry’s signature style of service and innovative guest experiences to this thriving city.” Pendry is part of Montage International.

“When a guest walks into a Pendry hotel for the first time, I want them to feel truly inspired,” said Michael Fuerstman, creative director and Pendry co-founder, in a short video introduction. “It is a contemporary luxury hotel experience that is forward-looking, engaging and that pushes the bounds of what luxury can be and what it should be.”

Guests should feel like they are staying in the best version of their dream home in their new city, he said.

“Pendry has a well-deserved reputation around the world for unparalleled properties and service,” said James Harpel, Chairman and Senior Partner for Two Roads Development. “They will create a truly special five-star hotel for downtown Tampa, and even more, our luxury residential buyers will have 24-hour access to the impeccable Pendry hotel service at a moment’s notice – right at home.”

Also on the residential side of the project, owners can choose from one to three-bedroom homes with private terraces starting in the $900,000s. The Pendry Residences will have a private lobby and elevator, an exclusive rooftop pool and lounge and a dedicated staff.
