WUSF Public Media has hired two new brand managers to expand the offering from its online platform. Malaika Hollist and Warren Buchholz will lead jazz streaming, on-demand classical music performances, podcasting and more at the station’s online platform, WUSF’s Arts Axis Florida.
Hollist will lead brand management for the Arts Axis Florida online digital arts hub. Buchholz will be in charge of brand management for all jazz content, podcasts and more within Arts Axis Florida.
“Our digital platform, Arts Axis Florida, is growing by leaps and bounds with visits to the site tripling over the last few months,” said WUSF General Manager JoAnn Urofsky. “We are thrilled for Malaika and Warren to join this team. We look forward to their additions to this creative platform to serve our audience in Tampa Bay and beyond.”
Hollist has received degrees from the University of Florida and the University of Tampa. A competitive dancer for over 14 years, Hollist has experience in a variety of arts, as well as digital video production and marketing.
Buchholz recently joined the WUSF team with experience in brand management, creative print and digital design, as well as management roles at USF St. Petersburg, helping students connect to the growing St. Petersburg arts community.
What is WUSF’s Arts Axis Florida?
Arts Axis Florida began in 2020 as the online hub of music, art, performance and cultural venues from WUSF Public Media. The entire library of Arts Axis Florida is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is supported by the listeners and sponsors of WUSF Public Media, Community Foundation Tampa Bay and the Gobioff Foundation.
Projects to look out for
Here are some of the projects in jazz and other creative arts that are coming soon:
- Two new podcast offerings, including one centered around jazz with live performances, in-depth profiles on local musicians and interviews. The other one is for kids. It’s about how arts and culture play a role in their lives.
- The introduction of Spoken Word as a genre. Arts Axis Florida will feature live and on-demand performances of local spoken word artists and events.
- Expansion into new geographic areas around the state, with increased presence of organizations from Orlando, Gainesville and the Panhandle.
- On-demand video performances of classical and jazz artists recorded live in the WUSF Public Media studios.
